Thinking for a Change

Thinking for a Change (T4C) is an integrated cognitive behavioral change program authored by Jack Bush, Ph.D., Barry Glick, Ph.D., and Juliana Taymans, Ph.D., under a cooperative agreement with the National Institute of Corrections (NIC). T4C incorporates research from cognitive restructuring theory, social skills development, and the learning and use of problem solving skills.

Interactive Journaling

The Courage to Change Interactive Journaling® System is an evidence-based supervision/case management model developed in collaboration with several United States Probation Offices. Through the use of this cognitive-behavioral Interactive Journaling® System and interaction with their support team, participants address their individual problem areas based on a criminogenic risk and needs assessment. Implementation is flexible and can be customized based on risk, responsivity and programming needs.

MORAL RECONATION THERAPY (MRT)

Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) is a cognitive-behavioral intervention designed to help individuals improve decision-making, increase moral reasoning, and develop a stronger sense of personal responsibility. The program follows a structured, step-by-step approach where participants complete written exercises and engage in group discussions that encourage self-reflection, accountability, and long-term behavioral change. Widely used in correctional and community-based settings, MRT has been proven effective in reducing recidivism and supporting positive life outcomes.

MOTIVATIONAL INTERVIEWING (MI)

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a client-centered, goal-oriented counseling approach designed to enhance an individual’s motivation to change. Through open-ended questions, reflective listening, and affirmations, MI helps individuals explore and resolve ambivalence about making positive life changes. Rather than directing or confronting, practitioners use empathy and collaboration to empower participants to identify their own reasons for change and strengthen their commitment to action. MI is widely used in behavioral health, substance use, and justice settings for its effectiveness in promoting lasting personal growth.

ANGER MANAGEMENT

Anger Management is a structured intervention that helps individuals recognize, understand, and manage their anger in healthy and constructive ways. The program focuses on identifying triggers, developing emotional awareness, and building coping strategies to prevent aggressive or harmful behavior. Through guided discussions, skill-building exercises, and role-playing, participants learn techniques such as deep breathing, problem-solving, and communication skills to handle conflict effectively. Anger Management supports emotional regulation and promotes more positive interactions at home, in school, and in the community.
